About Me
I first really touched a guitar at age 15. I got really serious with it at age 17 and at age 18 I enrolled into the preliminary year of the Conservatory of Hilversum, which later merged with the CVA, studying guitar, jazz in particular. I finished my studies there in 2000 and got a job in ICT directly afterwards, mostly because I was feeling terribly insecure about embarking on a musical career at that time. I got married with a wonderful woman and we're blessed with 5 children. I've been working in ICT for seven years, only to firmly establish that I should get back into music asap. In 2007 I quit my job and started my own guitarschool, making a living teaching guitar and music. So now I'm playing and composing and teaching guitar and having the time of my life, doing what I love. It feels like I've gone full circle in my life, to finally recognize and happily return to my true passion: improvisational music.
It feels like I've already gone full circle once in my life, to finally recognize and happily return to my true passion: improvisational music.
Benefiting from some of the programming skills I obtained during my years in the software industry, I've created my own guitar software application which is intended as a powertool for personal study, particularly for improvising musicians. It is called "FretBoardKnowledge" and an early version is now still available for free on my website.
